Prosphora is the sacred bread used at every Divine Liturgy. This ministry, though often unseen, is a meaningful way to support the spiritual life of our parish. The Ukrainian Catholic Church in the United States warmly invites all the faithful to take part in the All-American Youth Pilgrimage, taking place June 11–14. While titled a “youth” pilgrimage, this event is truly for everyone—participants of all ages are welcome. This pilgrimage is a beautiful opportunity to deepen one’s faith, encounter others, and celebrate the rich traditions of the Ukrainian Catholic Church together. On the table at the entrance of the church, there are a few free 2026 “Selfreliance” Ukrainian American Credit Union Association calendars. You are welcome to take one. They have great offers for Ukrainian Americans—always better than what you can find elsewhere. In April, they opened a new branch in Minneapolis—this is currently the closest one to us.

St. Demetrius Parish hosted a joyful Mustard Seed Club gathering for children and youth on April 18, bringing together 17 participants for a day centered on faith, fellowship, and Easter celebration. The gathering began with the Divine Liturgy, followed by a catechetical session that helped the children reflect more deeply on the meaning of Christ’s Resurrection and the importance of faith in everyday life. Afterward, everyone shared breakfast together in the parish dining hall. The day continued with a variety of activities for the children and youth, including team games and the viewing of Light of the World, a film portraying the life, Passion, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Participants also enjoyed lunch together before concluding the event with a festive Easter egg hunt. The day was filled with joy, friendship, prayer, and meaningful time together as a parish family. Special thanks to all who helped organize and support this memorable gathering for our young parishioners. Christ is Risen! Truly He is Risen!

After the liturgy, we will have the Anointing and the distribution of Artos, the special bread we traditionally blessed on Easter Sunday. Artos is a symbol of Christ’s presence and a reminder of the Resurrection. Please stay after the service to enjoy the festive meal together. On the joyful Feast of the Resurrection, April 5, our parish community gathered to celebrate the Glorious Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ . Continuing our beautiful tradition, we blessed the Paschal baskets , filled with festive foods prepared by our faithful. This meaningful custom reminds us that Christ’s Resurrection sanctifies not only our souls, but all aspects of our daily life. Following the services, our parish family came together in a spirit of joy and fellowship, sharing in the celebration of Пасха. It was a blessed time of unity, gratitude, and renewed hope in the Risen Lord. We thank everyone who participated and helped make this holy day so special. Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen!Христос воскрес! Воістину воскрес!  🙏✨

Today, on Easter Sunday, our schedule is as follows: We will begin with the solemn placement of the Lord’s Shroud on the altar . After that, there will be a procession around the church . Then, we will begin the Resurrection Matins & Liturgy , followed by anointing , and then the blessing of the Easter baskets  along with the food. The parish of St. Demetrius invites everyone to the Easter dinner on Thomas Sunday, following the Divine Liturgy. Belfield Knights of Columbus are organizing a ditch cleaning, starting at St. Demetrius Church around 5 p.m and heading south. The Knights invite everyone who is able to join the cleanup. Afterward, the Knights of Columbus will have a gathering in the St. Demetrius Dining Hall. (Depending on weather – contact Cole Hlebechuk 590-1023 or Rodney Krogh 677-4389) The next meeting of the Mustard Seed Club will be on Saturday, April 18th, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the St. Demetrius Parish. On Good Friday, April 3, our parish community gathered in prayer even in the midst of a snow blizzard. Despite the harsh weather conditions, the faithful came together to stand at the foot of the Cross and enter into the solemn remembrance of Christ’s Passion. This powerful witness of faith reminded us that no storm—whether in nature or in life—can separate us from the love of Christ. United in prayer, we reflected on His sacrifice and drew strength from His enduring love and mercy. We are grateful to all who made the effort to come and pray together on this sacred day. May the spirit of this Holy Friday remain in our hearts as we continue our journey in faith.

Today, after the liturgy, there will be a blessing of the pussy willows, and everyone will be able to take home a blessed branch. These branches symbolize the palm fronds that people laid before Jesus as he entered Jerusalem. This is a historical adaptation; in Ukraine and other parts of Eastern, Central, and Northern Europe, people have done this. We adapted this tradition from our ancestors, the first pioneers who came to North Dakota and did the same as they had seen in Ukraine.  The parish of St. Demetrius invites everyone to the Easter dinner on Thomas Sunday, following the Divine Liturgy. We would like to remind everyone of the obligation to make a Confession during Lent. A canon requires that we receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation during this time, so that by the time of Easter, we may all approach the Eucharist with a pure heart.  The Pontifical Good Friday Collection at the Holy Shroud goes to support Christians in the Holy Land. Your support helps the church minister in parishes, provide Catholic schools, offer religious education, and helps preserve the sacred shrines. There is an envelope in your box of contribution envelopes. Please be as generous as you can for this important collection. This Sunday is the last day of the collection Share 2026 (spring portion). Therefore, we invite everyone who has not yet participated to join in and help our Eparchy so that we can organize various programs, ministries, and more.

On the evening of March 27, our parish community gathered for a special Stations of the Cross for Children . It was a beautiful and prayerful time as our young parishioners walked through the journey of Christ’s Passion in a way that spoke to their hearts. The reflections at each station were read by the children themselves, helping all present to enter more deeply into the meaning of Christ’s suffering and love. Their participation made this devotion especially moving and meaningful for our entire community. We extend our sincere gratitude to all the children who took part, as well as to everyone who helped organize this special Lenten prayer. May this experience continue to bear fruit in the hearts of our young faithful as they grow in love for Christ.

Due to some issues with Father Stepan’s voice today, part of the liturgy will be recited. Thank you for your understanding. All parishioners of the church are warmly invited to take an active part in the Annual Parish Council Meeting, which will be held on January 25th, right after the liturgy in the church dining hall. This is a parish-wide event, and your participation is truly valued. Following the Feast of Epiphany, Father Stepan will begin pastoral home visits with the blessing of homes. These visits are a time of prayer, blessing, and personal encounter. Families are kindly asked to have a cross, icon and a candle prepared. If anyone wishes to speak about special concerns or has questions, they are encouraged to prepare them in advance so this time together may be especially meaningful.

Today, after Liturgy, we will have a blessing of the faithful with the relics of the Martyrs of Pratulin. All parishioners of the church are warmly invited to take an active part in the Annual Parish Council Meeting, which will be held today, January 25th, in the church dining hall. This is a parish-wide event, and your participation is truly valued. This Thursday, Jan 29th, we will be cleaning the church after the Christmas season and taking down the Christmas decorations. If you have time this Thursday after the 9:00 AM liturgy, please come and lend a hand in taking care of our church. Saturday, February 7th, marks the first All Soul Saturday of this year, and we will begin the Sorokousty Prayer, which will also take place on each Saturday of the Great Lent. This is a special prayer for the departed, especially for our family members and friends. If you would like to include their names in the prayer list, please submit their names in the envelopes provided at the church entrance.

Today, Sunday, February 1st, we will be holding a collection in our church to support the Patriarchal Solidarity Fund with Ukraine. Due to the harsh winter and ongoing shelling, many people are suffering from the cold. This collection is being held at the request of our Bishop Benedict to help those in need. The letter of appeal from Bishop Benedict is posted on the announcement board at the entrance of the church. We will have church cleaning on Saturday, Feb 7th after 8:00 AM liturgy. Please mark your calendar! It is much appreciated for your attendance. On Monday, February 2nd, we will celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. This is one of the twelve major feasts in the Church calendar, and the Holy Day of Obligation. We will have the Liturgy at 9:00 AM at St. Demetrius Church and at 6:00 PM at St. John’s. After each Liturgy, there will be a blessing of candles, which parishioners can take home.
