Borscht and Bingo! Today, February 15th, parish of St. Demetrius will be hosting a Borscht&Bingo event!
Today we observe Forgiveness Sunday, the final Sunday before the beginning of Great Lent. Following the Divine Liturgy, we will have the Ceremony of Mutual Forgiveness. This beautiful and humbling tradition invites us to ask and offer forgiveness to one another, so that we may enter the Holy Season of Lent with peace in our hearts and reconciliation with our brothers and sisters. All are encouraged to remain and participate in this meaningful preparation for the Great Fast.
Important Notice for the Great Fast: during all Sundays of the Great Fast, we will be celebrating the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great instead of the one of St. John Chrysostom that we are accustomed to. Please note that the Liturgy of St. Basil the Great is slightly longer.
Starting tomorrow, Monday, February 16th, we begin the Great Fast in preparation for Easter Sunday. We remind everyone that tomorrow is a strict fast day. The Church encourages all to abstain from excessive food consumption and to spend this day in prayer. For more detailed information about the Lenten fasting guidelines, please refer to the church bulletin board.
